Darkness Looms  -|| By Jessie C.
         Sonnet

The night in silence crept slowly by,
The north-star's twinkling hidden in a cloud,
Such a night was very gloomy in the darkness shroud,
The moon itself felt low nor high.
A feeling such as this would make one sigh,
Of grim gloom on the earth endowed,
That maimed and murdered and always prowled,
Such a thing no one can deny.
Of the world this is already true,
A place were Satan’s hand grips
And darkness plagues mankind,
Weakening life's vigor and virtue,
And if the balance, we can not tip,
In eternity we will not like what we find.
